These are just my random thoughts, or my favorite parts, as I listened to the Audiobook of the Lord Of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring:

Gildor is asked by Frodo ‘How does he get courage.’ Gildor responds by saying that "You find courage in the least likely places, and to keep good Hope."
The next morning Frodo tells Pippin to leave him alone so that he can eat and think. And Pippin hilariously asks "Good heavens at breakfast?" This made me laugh out loud. Who thinks and eats breakfast at the same time? Apparently not Pippin.

Tom Bombadil about farmer maggot "There's earth under his old feet, clay under his nails, wisdom in his bones, and both his eyes are open." Who could have thought Farmer Maggot was so special?
The Ring has no power over Tom. It does not make him invisible, he can see people who wear it, and it does not tempt him. It seems a useless trinket to him. It grew in his hand for some reason.
It also sounds like Tom had been around before morgoth. I have read some think he is Maia.
When captured by the barrow-wights, the light only appeared when Frodo began to get some courage. Also, the light emanated from him. Frodo called for Tom bombadil, Tom bombadil has saved them twice, once from Old Man Willow and then again from the barrow-wights., as if he were a saving angel. I believe the hobbits were dead, Merry remembers being stabbed with a spear. Tom Bombadil must have brought them back to life, or at least broken a spell. What was with that hand that was crawling toward the sword-hilt that Frodo struck with a sword?
-I wonder what the story is behind that necklace that Tom Bombadil picked for Goldberry and the memories he had?

Describing Glorfindel at the feast of Elrond. "upon his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength."
Gandalf to Saruman "he who breaks a thing to find out what it is, has left the path of wisdom."
“Despair, or folly?' said Gandalf. 'It is not despair, for despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not. It is wisdom to recognize necessity, when all other courses have been weighed, though as folly it may appear to those who cling to false hope.” Gandalf. (Such as with Denethor.)

"when heads are at a loss, bodies must serve." From Boromir, a saying of Gondor.
"the wolf that one hears is worse than the orc that one fears." Boromir when still deciding if they should go to Moria.
In response Aragorn says "Where the warg howls there also the orc prowls."

"I feel as if I was inside a song", says Sam after first having his eyes unblindfolded in Lothlorian after Tolkien had gone into great description about how strange and beautiful but otherworldly Lothlorian looked as if they were in a world of ancient times.
Frodo did not see Elrond's or Gandalf's rings, but he saw Galadrial's. She said her ring could not be concealed from the ring bearer and as another requirement, he HAD to see the eye of Sauron, which he had just barely done in Galadrial's mirror. So if he were to encounter Gandalf and Elrond that same moment, would he see their rings as well?
End of the Fellowship.
